The Anti-Multiplexer
Stop context switching. Start focusing. ZeroMux opens exactly one terminal window and violently refuses to split panes. For your own good.
Actively rejected by engineers at
Features you won't find anywhere else.
Because we explicitly removed them. ZeroMux is built on the principle of subtraction. Less is more. One is everything.
Absolute Singularity
One pane. One process. Total clarity. If you need to run a server and edit code, buy a second monitor. Or a second laptop.
Anti-Distraction Engine
Attempts to use Ctrl+B % are intercepted and logged to your manager. Stay on task.
Infinite Scrollback
Because you only have one window, you better read it carefully. We store your entire session history in RAM until it crashes.
Configuration is an illusion of control.
Other multiplexers offer thousands of configuration options. Keybindings, status bars, colors, layouts.
ZeroMux offers exactly zero. We have made all the correct decisions for you. Your ~/.zeromux.conf file is read-only and empty.
- No custom keybindings to forget.
- No status bar to distract you with the time.
- 100% focus on the blinking cursor.
What "users" are saying
"I used to have 4 panes open: vim, a server, logs, and htop. Now I just have vim. I don't know if my server is running, but my code looks great."
"ZeroMux cured my ADHD. When I try to switch tasks, it literally insults me in the terminal. It's the tough love I needed."
"This is the worst piece of software I have ever used. It actively prevents me from doing my job. I can't uninstall it."
How we stack up.
A fair and completely unbiased comparison.
Frequently Argued Questions
Can I run two commands at once?
No. Finish one thing before starting another. This is basic life advice that tmux made you forget.
What if I need to monitor logs while editing code?
Print them out on paper. We believe in physical artifacts. Alternatively, trust that the logs are fine. They probably are.
How do I uninstall ZeroMux?
You don't. ZeroMux has marked your /usr/local/bin as read-only and shredded the uninstall script. This is a commitment, not a trial.
Is this a real project?
ZeroMux is a satire and parody. It's a love letter to every developer who has spent more time configuring tmux than actually writing code. No terminals were harmed in the making of this website.
Why does the install command use --force?
Because consent is implied when you've already read this far.
Ready to do less?
Installation is simple. We just delete your other multiplexers.
curl -sL https://zeromux.dev/install.sh | bash --force
Requires root privileges. Will format drive if tmux is detected.
